2025 Summer Seasonal Stewards

In early August 2025, our Summer Seasonal Stewards, Maddy Parr and Cass Steininger, concluded their summer season interning with NICHES. Over 3.5 months, their efforts supported a range of projects including invasive species removal, site inspections, summer camp, and the transition into our stewardship facility space.

2024 Annual Report

Dear NICHES Friends,

“A little niche here, little niche there” is adding up to nearly 5,000 acres! We are delighted to present you with this annual report.

Rooted in the Wildcat

In the early 1960s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed constructing three reservoirs in the Middle Wabash region by damming the Wildcat, Big Pine, and Sugar Creeks. The project aimed to address flood control, general recreation, and fish and wildlife recreation. However, the initiative was met with fierce local opposition.
