FAQs
About Summer Camp
What is the age range for camp?
NICHES Summer Adventure Camp is for 11-14 year olds.
What is camp like?
Each week of camp 11 campers take to our local forests and creeks to learn about and experience the natural world firsthand. Camp activities have included floating local waterways, tree & rock climbing, hiking, camera trapping, creek stomping, paper making, feeding wolves at Wolf Park, art, crafts, and more!
What is the Counselor to Camper Ratio?
Each week of camp has 11 campers and 3-4 counselors depending on the activity.
When is drop-off & pick-up?
Drop-off is 9:00 - 9:30 am and pick-up is 4:30 - 5:00 pm.
What does camp cost?
Camp registration fees are $300 per week per camper. In 2026, we have a partnership with the Warren County Community Foundation and Western Indiana Community Foundation that allows us to offer camp free of charge to Warren and Fountain County Residents for Weeks 3 and 4.
Are there any requirements for camp?
Since we will be spending a lot of time floating and exploring local waterways, all campers are required to know how to swim.
What should I bring to camp each day?
- Swimsuit / Water Shoes / Towel / Set of Dry Clothes
As we hike, float, and explore local nature preserves, we will be in and out of the water regularly. Campers should expect to get wet and muddy/ sandy every day, so bring appropriate clothes and shoes.
- Hat / Sun Block (waterproof)/ Insect repellant
We will be spending as much time as possible outside each day, which means we need to prepare for the elements. Our camp staff will have extra sunscreen and insect repellant available for anyone who needs it.
- Water Bottle / Lunch / Snacks
Campers need to bring a packed lunch each day and water to stay hydrated (we will have extra water available while away from Clegg). On Friday campers will get to make their own pizzas in a handmade wood-fired pizza oven, so you might consider packing only a snack for that day!
- Any special medical needs (epi-pen?, inhaler? etc.)
Camp staff will always have a basic first aid kit available, but campers should bring whatever they require for special medical needs with them (We can hold on to anything if a camper needs and set reminders on times to take medications, just let us know!).
Some optional items to consider:
- Binoculars if you like to observe birds. (NICHES has a few sets to share, so no need to go out and get them if you don’t already have them)
- Camera – in waterproof case or separate / small dry bag.
