This update provides an overview for the extensive work that NICHES has done to acquire and maintain land. In a heartfelt article of thanks, staff honors Gus Nyberg as he steps down from Executive Director; Julie Rubsam introduces herself as the Interim Executive Director in his place. Ellen Jacquart, President of the Indiana Native Plant Society, shares an inspiring story of her experiences hiking through NICHES properties and her admiration for their management efforts. Finally, NICHES tells of its failed acquisition of Scholer Beef Farm with the message that while not all acquisitions have happy endings, NICHES will always fight for the conservation and protection of Indiana land.
