Summer Outreach Intern
NICHES Land Trust is seeking applications for a seasonal, full-time Outreach Intern position. The Outreach Intern will work in coordination with NICHES’ development and outreach staff to promote NICHES’ mission of protecting, restoring, and sustaining Northern Indiana ecosystems. Starting pay range is $15-18 per hour, depending on experience.
The Outreach Intern’s primary duty will be to assist with NICHES’ Summer Adventure Camp program and other nature-related public programs. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting and leading family and youth programs
- Representing the organization at outreach events, e.g. tabling at community festivals to promote NICHES and its mission
- Assisting the programs staff with administrative and facilities tasks, e.g. inventorying and organizing summer camp supplies
- Helping facilitate volunteer activities, including serving as a host and assisting with volunteer check in and orientation
- Assisting with the coordination and implementation of special events and public programs (i.e. hikes)
- Assisting with marketing and the development of promotional content for the organization’s public programs, e.g. writing blog posts and creating content for social media

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to engage the public appropriately and represent NICHES in a professional manner with confidentiality of sensitive organizational information
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement conditions for up to 8 hours a day
