NICHES Land Trust Summer 2024 Stewardship / Outreach Positions
NICHES Land Trust is hiring two Stewardship/Outreach Technicians for Summer 2024!
Application Deadline: March 1st, 2024.

NICHES stewards 4,500 acres throughout 13 counties in North Central Indiana. Stewardship/Outreach Technicians will be paid $15 / hour to assist with land stewardship projects and outreach activities. You will spend part of the summer working with our land stewards to learn and implement a variety of ecological restoration techniques like invasive plant removal, rare plant conservation, herbicide application, native plant propagation, and trail maintenance to improve ecosystem health at nature preserves. Stewardship/Outreach Technicians will also attend and help facilitate public volunteer / outreach events like local creek cleanups and the Summer Nature Camp program designed to help expose local children (ages 10-14) to the natural world around them. Much of the work will be physically taxing ‘in the field’ and you will broaden your conservation skillset. You should expect to work in a variety of weather conditions and be prepared to communicate with a diversity of organizational volunteers / supporters. Experience with plants and restoration techniques is appreciated but training will be provided. Ability to work with others in a respectful manner and a commitment to learning is required.
