Native Seed Collection is Going Great!
761653571 1044429108340097 8805995542335523373 nA big thank you to everyone who has helped us with Project Native Harvest so far! We have made some great progress collecting seeds from native plants such as:
  • Side-oats gramma (Bouteloua curtipendula)
  • Virginia Wild Rye (Elymus virginicus)
  • Showy tick-trefoil (Desmodium canadense)
  • Early wild rye (Elymus macgregorii)
  • Heartleaf skullcap (Scutellaria ovata)
After some cleaning, these seeds will be returned to regional NICHES preserves to bolster plant populations, enhance genetic diversity, and improve the recovery of areas previously infested with invasive species. Join Project Native Harvest >>

By supporting NICHES you protect the land, water, and wildlife of west-central Indiana, and secure public access to the most unique and precious natural areas in our region.
