Jack-O'-Lantern Hike Tickets on Sale Now!

For three nights this October, NICHES Land Trust invites you to experience nature in a way that is festive, family-friendly, and uniquely local.

 

The annual Jack-O'-Lantern Hike returns to Clegg Memorial Gardens October 29–31, transforming the woodland trail into a glowing autumn wonderland. Hundreds of carved pumpkins created by community members will light the way along a self-guided nighttime walk through the forest. It's a chance to slow down, enjoy the season, and see nature from a different perspective.

Whether you're looking for a fun family outing, a memorable date night, or simply an excuse to get outside on a crisp fall evening, the Jack-O'-Lantern Hike offers an experience unlike any other in Greater Lafayette.

As you follow the lantern-lit trail, you'll discover creative pumpkin carvings ranging from whimsical and funny to impressive works of art. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite pumpkin in our annual People's Choice Contest and help crown this year's winning carver.

What makes this event especially meaningful is that it is created almost entirely by the community. Local families, scout troops, classrooms, businesses, and volunteers donate their time and creativity to carve pumpkins, set up the trail, and welcome visitors. Every pumpkin helps create an unforgettable experience for hundreds of hikers. Best of all, every ticket helps support NICHES Land Trust's work to protect, restore, and sustain Northern Indiana's ecosystems while connecting people to nature.

Event Details

• Dates: October 29–31, 2026
• Location: Clegg Memorial Gardens, Lafayette
• Trail: Approximately ¾ mile self-guided woodland loop
• Cost: Free for current NICHES members, pumpkin carvers, and event volunteers. Non-members are welcome to attend for $10 per adult and $5 per child (12 and under). Advanced registration is required, and space is limited.

Sturdy shoes and a flashlight are recommended, as the trail includes hills, steps, and natural terrain.
