Nyssa grew up on a farm in Northwest Indiana. Spending time outdoors has always been one of her passions. She attended Purdue University, obtaining a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Environmental Science and Communications.

Her path within conservation started when her parents enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Wetland Reserve Program (WRP), and Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) on their farm. She started by working with the District Conservationist at the Lake and Porter County offices of Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), and she received an internship to work with the National Association for Conservation Districts (NACD) in Washington D.C. For the past few years she has worked for a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded, science and technology center.

As the new Communications Director, Nyssa’s mission is to show the surrounding communities who NICHES is and what we do!
